Congratulations you have arrived at SPOUSE BATTLE!
What is Spouse Battle?
The Spouse Battle Project (version 1.0) aka “Spouse Battle” is a game of positive personal and relationship development. It is a competitive “battle” not a violent one. It is a friendly competition much like a battle of wits. Spouse Battle is a constructive motivator for change created by an Indie Game Designer/Physics Student (Justin) and his dynamically creative wife (Amara).
Caveat: there are many parts to Spouse Battle. It is NOT an exact Science and it is evolving… things may change, our lives are not set in stone.
What is the goal of Spouse Battle?
At first it appears that the goal of Spouse Battle is points, but the true goal of the game is positive improvement physically, emotionally, and towards our individual and collective personal goals.
How does Spouse Battle Work?
We determine a point system for goals that we have, agree upon the points associated by an action and tally points. Each individual has a person running tally and these numbers are used in a simple one to one competitive manner.
The game is simple. Positive actions add Spouse Points (SP). Negative actions deduct SP.
The game hinges on honesty and awarding points when they are achieved. The true goal of the game will be lost if players are not fairly awarding points when they can. Similarly the goal will not be achieved unless points are truly earned. This is a so called “gentleman’s” game (with a women) and demands decorum and style.
How do you determine Spouse Points (SP)?
We use the constantly evolving Spouse Point Catalogue (SPC) to determine SP. The SPC provides a list of the of points awarded or deducted during a spouse battle action. The SPC also includes added challenges that further the goals of the game and add interest (such as “Slap Mini”).
How do you add an action/associate value within the SPC?
Determining if a new action should be worth adding to the Spouse Point Catalogue (SPC) is determined by discussion with the other spouse. Only through mutual agreement can a new activity be added to the SPC or a new point value assessed.
How long does a Spouse Battle last?
The first spouse battle will run from June 26th 2011 until August 1st 2011. We intend for the bouts to be monthly, with a year winner each July. Progress will be listed on this blog.
What is the reward for winning a Spouse Battle bout?
The winner gets to choose an activity or event that the other must partake in. This is likely to be an activity the Winner would like to try and is not of interest to the Loser (like say “windsurfing”). Or it may be an allocation of funds for the Winner to do something they don’t usually get to do, this will be determined through discussion/friend input. Should a conflict arise regarding the reward a panel of friends (the founding members of the game Slap Mini) will be consulted.
